Montreal, morning.
I heard—
“We will go then, you and I,
where horizon meets the sky”

Oakland, morning.
I heard
“It is the beauty of the world now is all I have to give.”
I made

late in the month
when I could see only darkness
spreading over the earth.
But in the making of the dark
came a point of light
that cut and spread through the blackness
and down to us below.
