But in the act of cutting
the dark to reveal the what's in it
I got unnoticed a speck of black on
my little finger and thence irremediably onto
the upper left corner of the paper.
Oh, well, make something...
The Chinese seal of ownership--
There's black already all over my thumb;
The Chinese seal is red but the finger print of die is black.
I made my clumsy black thumbprint
and saw the red blood drop in it
and made the ineradicable cadmium red
diamond of life that won't give up.
The whole thing made the pulse of life/death that will not
